At The Pound

Although the Floyd County Humane Society is not affiliated with the Floyd County Dog Pound, we work closely with them to promote pet adoption and animal welfare. Whereas dogs in FCHS care are kept in private foster homes until their adoption, the Floyd County Dog Pound has limited space and is not a “no-kill” shelter. Animals in their care can only be held a limited time. We encourage you to meet the dogs available for adoption at the pound when considering a pet for your family.  They do work to get each animal adopted.

For more information about the dogs at the Floyd County Pound, call 540-745-9365 and speak with one of the Animal Control Officers.

The pound charges $10 to adopt animals, but this does not include spay/neuter services or any other vet care. State law requires that you live in Floyd County, or an adjoining county, to adopt from the Floyd County Pound.

(Adjacent counties are Montgomery, Roanoke, Franklin, Patrick, and Carroll.)
