Quigley

 

     We happened upon Darcy’s shop in late July, just to browse.  We had no idea we’d find an adorable kitten waiting for us inside.  He was sleeping in a ceramic bowl. At first we weren’t even sure if he was real.  But we saw him yawn, we were delighted.  My wife picked him up and he immediately began to purr and snuggle her face and shoulder.  We fell in love with him instantly.
     Less than a week later, we took him home.  We decided to call him Quigley.    
     We were a little concerned how well Quigley would get along with our other three animals: Kirby, a Rat Terrier; Mirabelle, another young domestic shorthair; and Jezebel, an older Persian cat.  It was a rocky start, but before long Kirby and Mirabelle took to playing with Quigley.  They did their best to keep up with him – he certainly had spirit!  But when he finally tired himself out, he’d cuddle up with the other animals (and with us).  It took some time, but eventually he fit right in.       
     Today, three months later, we couldn’t imagine life without him.  He always finds new ways to make us smile.  Adopting Quigley was one of the best things we could’ve done.  We gave him a good home and he filled that home (and our hearts) with that much more love.   Brian & Margaret B-Manahawkin, NJ

Lucy (aka Twinkie)

 
I wanted to send you a few pictures of Twinkie - now Lucy.  She is doing so good, my other dog Elle just loves her so much, they get along great and Lucy seems to really like it here.  She is such a good girl.  They are a great pair.   Thanks, Jill

Gabby (aka Pecan

I'm attaching two photos of Pecan (renamed Gabby).
As you can see she has growing into quite the adult cat!
Her missing foot has not stopped her from terrorizing our other two senior cats when she feels playful or climbing onto the counters even though she knows she's not supposed to! haha  She's become very close to our kids and enjoys sleeping with them at night and being cuddled often.  We are so glad to have had the opportunity to have adopted her and for the humane society to have rescued her and taken such wonderful care of her before our adoption.  Her adoption has also sparked an interest in the humane society with our children and they often ask to visit and donate items to the one near us in Christiansburg. 
Please let Darcie know that Gabby continues to do well!  The Covey Family

Sage
Attached is a picture of Sage, once known as "Frisco" when I first adopted him in 2004. He was living at Sunny's house, with a couple of his brothers (including "Possum"), all Husky mixes, all left on the side of a highway apparently because someone was disappointed that they weren't full breed Huskys. He seems to be a Husky-shepherd mix. I liked Sage because he didn't try to be alpha but just liked to play with everyone, although his downfall is that the Husky in him seems to make him want to run off and explore (without me)!  We live in Santa Fe, NM with my boyfriend John, cat Junipurrr and John's local rescue dog "Lacey", a Dalmatian mix whose litter was found in a bag on the side of Interstate 25. 
We all love to go to the enormous open dog park which is only a 5 minute walk from our house. Sage loves to sleep outside in the sun and curl up with us on the bed at night. Thanks so much for what you do and for bringing such wonderful pets, who would have otherwise suffered, into our lives.  – April Grisetti, NM
