Although the FCHS is not affiliated with the Floyd County Dog Pound, we work closely with them to promote pet adoption and animal welfare. Whereas dogs in FCHS care are kept in private foster homes until their adoption, the Floyd County Dog Pound is not a "no kill" shelter. Therefore, animals in their care can only be held a limited time before they are euthanized. We encourage you to browse the dogs available for adoption at the shelter when considering a pet for your family.

The Floyd County Dog Pound does not take in cats at this time.

(*NOTE: Pets that are surrendered voluntarily to the pound by their owners can be immediately euthanized without a waiting period! Please think twice before surrenduring your pet to the pound.)
