Spay and Neuter
Cat and dog spay and neuter is provided to the FCHS by Angels of Assisi. The reduced costs are intended to assist those in our community with severe and demonstrated financial need. To allow us to continue to offer these services, we ask that those community members that are not financially burdened to make a supplemental donation in an amount of their choosing in addition to the basic fees for service.
Once a month (the second Monday of each month), a medical shuttle comes to Floyd and shuttles the pets to Roanoke to perform the surgeries. To schedule a spay or neuter for your pet, dowload the application (click the application tab at the top) and mail your completed form with your deposit to:

Your appointment will be booked only upon receipt of a $20 deposit PER ANIMAL and a confirmation call by the Spay/Neuter Coordinator.
The night before the procedure, do not provide your animal with any food past 8 p.m. (water may be given) Make certain that your outside animals are kept where you can easily access them in the morning. Missed appointments will forfeit their deposit. On the day of the procedure, bring your pet to the parkinglot of the Floyd Fitness Center on route 8 (map) at 7:00 a.m. Please bring cats in a crate and if you have a crate for your dog, bring it with you. You may pay your remaining balance with cash or check when you drop off your pet. If you are paying cash, please bring correct change. Your pet will be returned to the Floyd Fitness Center parking lot between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. the same day.. Your pet will be sent home with a 3 day supply of pain medications. Be sure to ask if you have any questions regarding the administration of these medications.
A current rabies shot is mandatory for all spay and neuter patients. If you cannot provide proof of current vaccination, we will require that one be administered at time of the procedure and a cost of $7 will be added to your total. Additional vaccines are also available (optional) at reduced costs during the spay and neuter.

Dogs weighing more than 70 lbs cannot be seen on the spay and neuter shuttle. However, Angels of Assisi can provide reduced cost spay and neuter at their clinic in Roanoke for these larger dogs. For information, call Angels of Assisi at 540-344-8707.
