Casper has become much more loving and is very focused on our family, and will stop sniffing and exploring to follow us if he finds that we're leaving him during our walks. He is enjoying his 40 acres of freedom, and gets to run and play as much as he wants. If he gets out of eyesight, I call him and he comes bounding up almost immediately - he doesn't seem to like to be far from us. We were looking for a companion animal for Sophie, our dog who lost her best friend a year and a half ago but who doesn't always enjoy other dogs, and Casper seems to be the perfect fit for her. She is very patient with him and enjoys playing and running with him - she is much more active and seems happy now that he is...
Happy Tails from former FCHS foster dog Shiloh (formerly Ernest) and his Willis/Indian Valley family, who are FCHS volunteers: "Shiloh is the most snuggly dog we've ever known! He has no idea how big he is, or he just doesn't care. He loves long walks in the mountains and he can't get enough fetch. He's been to the top of Buffalo Mountain and he's itching to get on the AT this spring!
Shiloh is such a special guy and we are lucky to have him in our lives. We initially intended to only foster him, but after a week we knew we couldn't say good-bye. Helping take care of the FCHS dogs is rewarding, but seeing Shiloh's true personality emerge when he's in a home environment is a wonderful thing to witness."
Happy Tails from former FCHS foster dog, Max: “Here are a few photos of Max settling in and taking over our couch lol! He is doing really well. Buddy (Max’s new sibling) has been a lot more forgiving of Max stealing his ball and Max has gone on his first couple runs with me and shows promise as a runner! We are enjoying his spunky ability to constantly play and hang out with you no matter where you are.”
“I need to find a good home for my dog, I can’t give him what he needs right now, and he is in the crate too much. He is a WONDERFUL dog, he can sit, stay until you tell him to go, and shake hands. His name is Max and he is about 2 years old.” Max is now a foster of the Floyd County Humane Society, but his o...
Elegant Ellie went to her forever home in Stuart on Feb 3, 2019. Congratulations, Ellie! “She and Aaron hit it off famously! Playing was a big part of their time. Ellie also found out that ‘vacation’ means a hamburger for lunch. At 10 pm she goes to bed and is good until 7:30 am. She talks in her sleep!”
Foster Dog Ace Just Wants to Be Your Everything! Ace is a guy who won’t share you. He needs lots of room to run and play and is being fostered by a family who can provide that. But Ace would love a real forever home. He is 50 + pounds of walker hound mix and less than two years old. Ace arrived at FCHS from the Floyd County Pound. If you are looking for an adventure buddy like Ace, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org at the Floyd County Humane Society!
