Smokey Joe is a very sweet and special guy. he is currently in a foster home where he can be an indoor outdoor kitty. He showed up as a friendly stray in Floyd and though he is a healthy, strong cat, he does have a heart murmur. He has been neutered, started his vaccines, and tested negative for FELV/FIV. Smokey Joe gets along with other cats and dogs though he can be a bit bossy. If you would like to meet this handsome guy, leave a message at 540-745-7207 or e-mail email@example.com!

Happy Tails from Freddy, former FCHS foster dog, and his new family near Greensboro, NC! Who says you can’t put a country dog in the city? More importantly, who says you can’t put a HOUND IN THE CITY? (Freddy is a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix, by the way.)
Here’s what Freddy’s new family says: “Just wanted to give you an update on Freddy. He is doing great. He is so much fun! He loves the park and sitting in the sunny window. He has finally adjusted to the TV.”
Freddy is looking for an active forever home that will give him his very own Kong and the exercise he needs. Then he'll be ready to relax and snuggle with you!
In the video, Freddy and a friend are playing on a snowy evening. Freddy (small walker coonhound mix) learned...
Happy Tails from former FCHS foster dog Shiloh (formerly Ernest) and his Willis/Indian Valley family, who are FCHS volunteers: "Shiloh is the most snuggly dog we've ever known! He has no idea how big he is, or he just doesn't care. He loves long walks in the mountains and he can't get enough fetch. He's been to the top of Buffalo Mountain and he's itching to get on the AT this spring!
Shiloh is such a special guy and we are lucky to have him in our lives. We initially intended to only foster him, but after a week we knew we couldn't say good-bye. Helping take care of the FCHS dogs is rewarding, but seeing Shiloh's true personality emerge when he's in a home environment is a wonderful thing to witness."
Happy Tails from former FCHS foster dog, Max: “Here are a few photos of Max settling in and taking over our couch lol! He is doing really well. Buddy (Max’s new sibling) has been a lot more forgiving of Max stealing his ball and Max has gone on his first couple runs with me and shows promise as a runner! We are enjoying his spunky ability to constantly play and hang out with you no matter where you are.”
“I need to find a good home for my dog, I can’t give him what he needs right now, and he is in the crate too much. He is a WONDERFUL dog, he can sit, stay until you tell him to go, and shake hands. His name is Max and he is about 2 years old.” Max is now a foster of the Floyd County Humane Society, but his o...
