FCHS is fortunate to have received several grants over the last few months. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors and let everyone know how we plan to use these funds. THANK YOU!
APRIL 2023 PETCO LOVE We received $2,000 from Petco Love’s 2022 Animal Welfare Organization grant cycle. These funds will go towards our shelter construction fund. MARCH 2023 VIRGINIA FEDERATION OF HUMANE SOCIETIES & SpayVA We received $2,000 in spay/neuter grant funding that will help us continue our mission of reducing the pet population in our area. The goal of the SpayVA Grants is to reduce shelter intake and euthanasia by funding local spay/neuter efforts. NOVEMBER 2022 & MARCH 2023 WALMART We received two local community grants from the Fairlawn and Christiansburg stores totaling $750. These funds will continue to fund our free rabies clinics offered to the community! We were awarded another Community Grant ($1500) earlier in 2022. That allowed us to host our first FREE rabies clinic for the community. With the support of Walmart, we hosted our 2nd FREE rabies clinic on 4-29-23. We were able to give free vaccinations to 179 pets total from this support! NOVEMBER 2022 THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF THE NEW RIVER VALLEY We would like to thank and recognize both the Community Foundation of the New River Valley and the Beverly A. & Homer T. Hurst Family Fund. The Floyd County Humane Society received $4,000 from the Beverly A. & Homer T. Hurst Family Fund. These funds will go into our general operations and dog training for at risk dogs that come into our care to give them the socialization and training to become wonderful family pets. SEPTEMBER 2022 LARRY WOODROW VEST FUND & THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SERVING WESTERN VIRGINIA We want to give a HUGE thank you to the Larry Woodrow Vest Fund and the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia. With their grant of $11,000, we were able to install an emergency backup generator for both our shelter house and dog shelter in February. The dogs and cats in our care will be safe with heat/air and water when the power is out.
