This sweet Rottie girl is Lady. Lady is full of energy and has regained her self-confidence. This 70-pound plushy loves humans. She was picked up as a stray and was at the pound before she came to us. She is just a big teddy bear! She'll jump up to give you kisses, but is very gentle.
No known history with other dogs, cats or children. She is house-trained. If you would like to meet Lady please email Carol at cymoates@gmail.com. Ginger is ready to rewrite the story of her life. Will you help her write her Happily Ever After?
We don't want to dwell on her past, but we will just come out and say it...Ginger was found tied to a tree and starving to death. She resorted to eating pine needles and leaves to stay alive. BUT most importantly, she is safe now and receiving a ton of love and treats from our volunteers. Since she has been in our care (about 5 weeks now), she has gained about 10 pounds (still needs to gain more). She is so sweet, loving, and trusting. Even though she was mistreated by humans previously, she craves love, pets, affection, and company. We can't wait for her true personality to shine through 110%! We get glimpses of it every day. Ginger should be an only dog (no cats; unknown with children). She needs to know she is cared for and loved and in a home where she is not left alone 8+ hours a day. And because she was nearly starved to death, food is very important to her and she will likely have a strong food draw for the rest of her life. Her forever home should be aware of leaving any edibles within reach or smell. If you give her a treat, she will not hesitate for a second to take it! If you would like to meet this sweet girl, please contact cymoates@gmail.com. **ADOPTION PENDING!! STAY TUNED!**
Soft kisses and love, plus a great walking/hiking/running partner describes what you can expect from Jack. Jack is thrilled to join his sidekick, Ace, as a FCHS foster dog just arrived from the Floyd Pound. Jack is a little taller and he doesn’t grumble as much as Ace, but he loves attention just as much. Jack is 3 years old, weighs 45 pounds and gets along with other dogs, cats, and kids. He is used to living in a home and knows his manners there. Please contact cymoates@gmail.com to meet Jack! Happy Tails for a senior foster! November is adopt a senior pet month. Former foster dog 'Gus' and his new guardian, Carol Porter, were the perfect match. It just doesn't get sweeter than this! "I am so happy that I adopted Gus (previously known as Phineas). This is the first senior I’ve adopted but hey, I’m a senior too! He’s a lovebug!" This snugly and talkative gentleman was picked up as a stray and is now in the FCHS shelter. Stay tuned for info updates on Phin!
Fred was adopted on Christmas Day and made the long trip home to Massachusetts!!
He has a new sister and humans that love him dearly. YAY FRED!! xoxo Clyde's wonderful new family was skeptical about senior dogs at first, but now they are hooked. They said, "If we can get one adopted by posting and raising awareness, we have done our job. Share with anyone and everyone."
Clyde went to work with his Dad for the first time last week and is already in charge of important tasks: "Clyde here. Just wanted to tell you my week is going well and I’m healing and adjusting well. Life at work is tough and stressful. So many people to pet me and talk to me. As the DEO (Dog Executive Officer) I’m trying to learn new things and wrap my ears around the position. Dad says I have to make the money for bones and biscuits. Hope all the other doggies are finding homes. Here is a picture of me showing you how stressed out I am in the office. Talk to you soon." We are so happy for Clyde and wish him and his new family many happy and snugly moments to come ❤️ ***UPDATE: ADOPTED!!***
TORI'S FOSTER HOME FELL IN LOVE WITH HER AND THEY ARE KEEPING HER! This cutie is looking forward to meeting everyone on Saturday, October 12th at the Cabin Fever Fall Fling! Tori is about 7 yrs old, 29 lbs, she needs to lose some weight. Last week she had surgery to repair a condition that was likely causing her much pain for some time. She is healing nicely and finally ready to come out and meet people. She would be best in a home without other animals, but is doing well at her foster home with large dogs. UPDATE: Adoption Pending. Stay tuned!
Ziggy was taken to the Floyd Pound as a stray and is now an FCHS foster dog. Already handsome, he will be gorgeous after grooming! Ziggy is ready to give you some bear hugs by wrapping himself around you. He’s a Border Collie mix, about 3 years old, and shows his love by placing his front paws on your lap or by hugging you. Ziggy takes a happy interest in other dogs and pretty much ignores cats. Ziggy would love to run in wide open spaces! He would be best at a home where he can be an outside working dog, and run and burn off extra energy. Please contact Carol at the Floyd County Humane Society: cymoates@gmail.com if you would like to meet Ziggy! *Adopted!*
