Ginger is ready to rewrite the story of her life. Will you help her write her Happily Ever After?
We don't want to dwell on her past, but we will just come out and say it...Ginger was found tied to a tree and starving to death. She resorted to eating pine needles and leaves to stay alive. BUT most importantly, she is safe now and receiving a ton of love and treats from our volunteers. Since she has been in our care (about 5 weeks now), she has gained about 10 pounds (still needs to gain more). She is so sweet, loving, and trusting. Even though she was mistreated by humans previously, she craves love, pets, affection, and company. We can't wait for her true personality to shine through 110%! We get glimpses of it every day. Ginger should be an only dog (no cats; unknown with children). She needs to know she is cared for and loved and in a home where she is not left alone 8+ hours a day. And because she was nearly starved to death, food is very important to her and she will likely have a strong food draw for the rest of her life. Her forever home should be aware of leaving any edibles within reach or smell. If you give her a treat, she will not hesitate for a second to take it! If you would like to meet this sweet girl, please contact cymoates@gmail.com.

Gorgeous George came from a group of outdoor cats whose caretaker passed away. He’s a hunk of love — over 13 lbs. of sweetness! He’s used to being outside and being around lots of cats and dogs and seems to get along well with everyone.
George is healthy, vaccinated, neutered, and tested negative for FELV/FIV. If you would like to meet this handsome guy, leave a message at 540-745-7207 or e-mail info@floydhumanesociety.org. Baby Baby (who would probably be happy to have a new name...) is a gorgeous, fluffy Maine Coon mix. She was part of a colony of cats whose caretaker passed away. She was used to being inside until recently.
Baby Baby is very affectionate with people and gets along with other cats. She is used to being around dogs. She is healthy, vaccinated, spayed, and tested negative for FELV/FIV. If you would like to meet this lovely lady, leave a message at 540-745-7207 or e-mail info@floydhumanesociety.org. Millie is a super sweet tortie. She’s a young mom with two cute kittens who are close to being weaned. She has been around dogs and other cats and gets along well. She’s very affectionate with people.
Millie has started her vaccines, been dewormed, and tested negative for FELV/FIV. She is scheduled to be spayed soon. If you would like to meet this lovely young mama, leave a message at 540-745-7207 or e-mail info@floydhumanesociety.org. Apricot and Anise are two bundles of cuteness! They were born around Thanksgiving and are close to being weaned from their sweet mom Millie.
They have grown up around dogs and other cats and are very friendly. They have started their vaccines and their mom tested negative for FELV/FIV. If you would like to meet these cuties, leave a message at 540-745-7207 or e-mail info@floydhumanesociety.org. Kitty is a beautiful brown tabby girl with striking white markings. She is friendly and appreciates attention though is not demanding. She was a stray who has decided that an indoor home suits her just fine!
Kitty is vaccinated, spayed, and tested negative for FELV/FIV. She was diagnosed with liver disease after she came to us but has shown a remarkable recovery over the past few weeks. Her lab work on 2/17 was normal! We suspect that her issue may have been caused by exposure to a toxic flea collar she was wearing when she came into our care and should be resolved. If you would like to meet this Kitty, leave a message at 540-745-7207 or e-mail info@floydhumanesociety.org. **Courtesy Post** Please contact Amber at (276) 229-5240 if you would like to meet Symbol & Chief.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Symbol & Chief's owner has fallen ill and can no longer give them the care they need. Symbol is a boxer mix, about 7 yrs old, weighs 38 lbs, is spayed, vaccinated, on heartworm preventative, and has lived at this home for 3 years. She is very loving and likes other dogs as well as children. She doesn’t seem aggressive towards cats, but shouldn’t be left alone with them. She is crate trained and somewhat house trained. Unfortunately she’s a fence climber so she needs to be on a tether or leash outside. Chief (the black and white dog in the pictures ) is around 5-6 yrs old. Neutered. Good with dogs and kids. Loves to run around and play with his squeaky toy. He's on interceptor plus for heartworm prevention and just got a new Soresto collar this month. He does good inside now once he's adapted. And will not usually jump a fence From Symbol's owner, "She is an absolute sweetheart. Her buddy chief is too (black & white male) he's about 5 yrs old, neutered, on heartworm prevention and flea & tick treatment. Good with kids, other dogs and cats but shouldn't be left unsupervised with cats. If anyone wants to give them a forever home together I will do that because their bond is a strong one." Ginger is about 8 1/2 months old, very sweet and friendly. She’s a serious kitten, prefers to sit on your lap, not play. She loves other cats. She’s started her vaccines, tested negative for FELV/FIV, and is scheduled for spay next week.
