Did you know that the Floyd County Humane Society is a 100% volunteer led organization with NO paid staff? With ALL of our operations transitioning to our new shelter site by October 2022, we need more volunteers! We know that our supporters and members lead busy and active lives. Maybe you want to do more but cannot commit to, say, fostering a dog or cat, serving on our all-volunteer board of directors, or immersing yourself in fundraising events, but... You can make a BIG difference in as LITTLE as one hour per month! Here are some examples of what you might do:
The best way to stay involved and in touch is to join! Membership costs as little as $5 per year and you will receive emails when we need your help. Join today! If you would like more information about how you can support the Floyd County Humane Society in as little as one hour per month, please visit our volunteer web page or contact us by email [email protected] or by calling 540-745-7207 (voicemail message service only- we will receive your message and return your call quickly)

Please join us for Cabin Fever 10 this Saturday June 25 at 674 Cole’s Knob Rd NE, Pilot, VA. Admission is $10 for adults, free for kids and pets! Gates open at 11:00, live music will begin around noon. You'll also find food, fun, auctions, crafts and more!
What is Cabin Fever? Cabin Fever is a live music fundraiser presented twice a year by Cabin Fever Charity Events. In 2013, Rob and Whitney Maddox founded the organization in memory of their friend, T. Kevin Dodson. Since that first concert, they've presented Cabin Fever once or twice a year in the spring and/or summer (with the exception of 2020). Rob and Whitney have a passion for animals. In the early years of Cabin Fever, the charity funded four St. Francis Service Dogs. Since 2019, Cabin Fever has raised over $62,000 for the Floyd County Humane Society's new shelter facility and kennels. This year's talent includes Seph Custer & Brackish Water Jamboree, Chris & Chelsea, Jake & Jess, Stellar and Alien Being, Stephenicole and Jake Retting. Check out the videos below for a preview! Remember--100% of proceeds benefit the Floyd County Humane Society. Be sure and read the attached flyer for details or visit the Cabin Fever Terry's Fork Facebook page. We hope to see you on Saturday! The estate of Dorothy F (Polly) Tinnel bequeathed $2250 to the Floyd County Humane Society in honor of her great love for animals.
Ms. Tinnel's last wishes were "to provide support to the humane society to support the good work it does." This generous donation will fund as many as 30 spays or neuters. These services are an example of the "good work" that Ms. Tinnell recognized during her life. Ms. Tinnell's estate also wished to thank the Floyd community for their support of the estate sale which made these funds possible. |
