It must be a sign! You've been longing for a furry "best friend" (or maybe a second or third) but were waiting for just the right time? How about National Dog Day, August 26?
Animal advocate Colleen Paige started National Dog Day on August 26, 2004. The August 26 date was significant to Colleen because that was the day her family adopted their pet sheltie. Colleen wanted a day that everyone could celebrate "man's best friend" and especially to draw attention to the number of dogs waiting in shelters for loving homes. Please take a look at some of Floyd County's wonderful, doggos waiting for adoption. Then fill out your application and you're on your way to adding a new member of your family!  Share
