Yes, We're Building Our Very Own Shelter! (Here's what we've been up to!)

You might have heard it on the grapevine that we're working on constructing our very own shelter so that we can help more dogs and cats! (We currently rely on foster homes and rented kennel space.)
Here's an update on what we've been up to and how we've been using the current building on the property. In case you didn't know, we were fortunate to receive a generous estate gift in 2020 that allowed us to purchase outright a 9 acre property, which included a brick home on site. We plan on using the current structure for offices, storage, and meeting space.

A few weeks ago we had three different architectural firms visit the location of our future animal shelter. We used this opportunity to learn more about each firm, teach them about our organization, and think about the design of the new shelter. Proposals will be submitted soon, and the shelter committee is excited about reviewing our options!

This isn't the only work we've been doing on the new shelter property though. We've collected items (including donated items, supplies, files, and more) from multiple storage areas, taken them to the new location, and organized them. We've also installed internet and a security system, and we continue to hold our monthly membership meetings there since our first in-person meeting July of this year.
